Importing Transactions

Importing Transactions link

Importing provides bulk loading of our data into a grid by reading a text file, or by copying and pasting lines of text. The import tool is available for most grids, but using it for transactions is most common.

Custom File Import link

  1. If we need a custom import template setup, contact 2ic Support support@2icsoftware.com to create one.
  2. From the navigation menu, expand Operations and open Transactions page.
  3. Drag and drop a text file of transactions anywhere on the transactions grid. It will display the import tool and load the lines of text.
  4. Alternatively, click the blue chevron icon (on the right) to open the side panel. Expand the Import tool and paste lines of text into the input box.
  5. If a saved template is identified from header rows it will be automatically selected in the import template field. The template can also be manually specified or overridden, including saving a new template.
  6. Click Import to begin checking the rows. A pop-up will appear displaying count of rows and how they will be processed. Click OK to import.

Ad hoc Import link

  1. From the navigation menu, expand Operations and open Transactions page.
  2. Drag grid columns into the same order as columns in our text file.
  3. Drag and drop our text file or paste lines of text into the Import tool. Import lines may also be keyed, which is convenient for testing.
  4. Click Import to begin checking the rows. A pop-up will appear displaying count of rows and how they will be processed. Click OK to import.
info

Comma is the default column separator. Other column separators are available and can be changed in the Column Separator box.

Updating Existing Transaction Rows link

  1. Unhide the ID column and leave it at the leftmost column. Drag other grid columns so the required data is adjacent to the ID column.
  2. Copy a block of cells or complete rows and paste into Excel.
  3. Modify data in Excel as required, then copy and paste back into the import tool. Columns should still be in the same order.
  4. Click Import to begin checking the rows. A pop-up will appear displaying count of rows and how they will be processed. ID values should match existing rows to update. Click OK to import.
